Federal Statistics - The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) reports that 37,133 lives ended in 34,247 fatal motor vehicle crashes. Over 5,000 lives were lost in 4,455 large truck and bus crashes. Fatalities have increased by 8% in recent years. Additionally, 17% of all truck and bus crashes resulted in occupants' deaths, a 7% increase over the prior statistical year. Each year semi-tractor cases kill and injure the innocent.
